Dreamlike beach and sports at their finest
Health tourism, active vacations, fun on the beach, water sports all around, entertainment for the little ones – sounds familiar, doesn’t it? That’s what Bibione tempts visitors with, and that’s also what you are about to discover if you consider a daytrip to Lignano Sabbiadoro. They’re both topnotch beach resorts, but they’re not the same.
Lignano is just across the Tagliamento River, and it is a favorite destination of holidaymakers throughout Europe. Located about halfway between Venice and Trieste, it makes for a perfect base camp if you plan to have an active stay on the Adriatic coastline, searching out all beach tourism jewels on the coast.
The beach: a splendid 8-kilometer stretch of the finest sand in north Italy (it’s not for nothing that they call it Sabbiadoro, which means “golden sand”). It is constantly awarded the Blue Flag, so the quality of your experience here is guaranteed in terms of safety, cleanliness and entertainment.
But spending your entire daytrip to Lignano on the beach doesn’t make much sense. Look for what’s unique in Lignano. For instance, visit the reputed Golf Club Lignano if you’re a keen player or just like to practice on occasion. If accompanied by your family, don’t miss out the opportunity and visit Punta Zoo Verde. Consider Aquasplash and Gulliverlandia if you really want to spoil the little ones.
Eventually, reward yourself with a unique treat: visit Terme di Lignano and see what they tempt you with. The best of spa is usually on the table, from massages to beautification and all sorts of alternative medicine treatments.
Lignano is just across the Tagliamento, but unless you rent a boat to get there and back again by river or by sea, you’ll have to cover the distance on land. Which you can do in next to no time. The distance is about 11 kilometers. Follow SP 74 until you get to Bevazzana, and then turn east on Via Lignano, which crosses the river. Turn south on Via Giosue Carducci, and then follow Via Cassa Bianca. That leads you straight to Lignano after passing right by Golf Club Lignano.

Lido dei Pini is the easternmost beach of Bibione. On top of the fun opportunities, it features the so-called Pluto Beach, a pet friendly area.
Valgrande and Vallesina spread on some 475 hectares. Ancient fishing valleys, they are now recognized as to their environmental importance.
Play tennis in Bibione! Look for multi-purpose sports centers or for tennis clubs and practice your favorite sport on vacation.
